LETICIA BISHKASHI, INTERN
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Leticia is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Oakland University who believes effective therapy begins with curiosity, understanding, and respect for each client's individual experience. She has completed the academic and initial practical components of her graduate clinical training and is completing a six-month supervised clinical internship.
Leticia provides pro bono counseling services under extensive clinical supervision from Dr. Fishta and Dr. Hansen. This supervised internship allows her to continue developing advanced clinical skills while providing clients with thoughtful, individualized care within a closely supported professional environment.
Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, stress, relationship and family concerns, self-esteem difficulties, cultural and family pressures, and significant life transitions. She has a particular interest in working with individuals navigating the intersection of their identity, life experiences, relationships, and the expectations placed upon them.
Leticia's therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. Her work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, solution-focused approaches and trauma-informed care. Rather than expecting clients to fit a single therapeutic model, she works to understand each person's needs, experiences, strengths, and goals, and adapts the therapeutic process accordingly.
Leticia strives to help clients develop practical coping strategies while also gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns of influencing their lives. Her goal is to create a supportive therapeutic environment in which clients can build greater self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and meaningful progress
